Smita Joshi, author of the “Karma and Diamonds” trilogy, shares here 7 amazing benefits she has experienced on her journey of self-discovery across continents and lifetimes, along with tips for all beginners.
1. I gained confidence
I thought I had no talent for physical activity, but I was wrong. I am absolutely suited not only to exercise, but also to a more rigorous, dynamic, and challenging form of yoga, and have experienced the wonderful life-enhancing, rejuvenating, and anti-cancer benefits.
2 Increased concentration
As I have practiced more and more, I have become more focused. I can now easily concentrate for long periods of time. This has allowed me to write the “Karma and Diamonds” trilogy in just two years.
3 Stress is less overwhelming
One of the most difficult parts of my day is learning to de-stress. The physical aspects of yoga and its philosophy have proven helpful in providing a complete and comprehensive means of effectively and powerfully coping with the fast and stressful pace of modern life.
4 I have a more positive attitude towards my body
I used to focus on weight loss and dieting, but now I listen to my body\’s demands. I eat what I like, but I try to eat a varied and balanced diet.
5 I eat more
I am a vegetarian and always considered myself healthy. I appreciate the detoxification that yoga stimulates and I try to keep my body as clean as possible.
6 Better digestion
I digest food much better than before. For example, nuts, which I used to avoid because they cause bloating, are now a staple protein source.
7 Overall physical performance has improved
Muscle strength and stamina have improved and so has endurance. In yoga, the emphasis is on developing and using the muscles of the middle body. Starting with almost nothing, she can now balance on both hands and lift her own weight.
